Rehabilitation Intervention of Physical Therapists Improves Muscle Synergy during Standing-up Motion of Stroke Patients

Abstract

This study focuses on human standing-up motion and analyze the effect of rehabilitation intervention of physical therapists on muscle synergy during standing-up motion of stroke patients. To this end, muscle synergy structure is compared between two conditions in which stroke patients stood up by themselves and they stood up with physical therapist’s intervention. As a result, it has been found that activation duration and peak time of the muscle synergy, which contribute to hip rise movement, become closer to these of the healthy people. This result implies that appropriate rehabilitation could improve impaired muscle synergy activation of post-stroke patients.
